Gary Robinson Candidate for City Council |
|
Strong democracy is built on strong debate and that’s what I will bring to council. I have served 12 years on Surrey Council with three different mayors. I know what the job entails and how to get it done.
I was born at St. Paul’s Hospital and am 55 years old. I grew up on a farm in Newton and have lived in Surrey for 42 years. I am married and a father of two sons. I love music, movies and playing hockey.
I served six terms on Surrey City Council from 1987 to 1999 topping the polls several times; I chose not to seek re-election in 1999.
I worked at CN Rail for 24 years and served as Co-Chair of the Health & Safety Committee and President of the union local for 18 years. I am an experienced negotiator and chaired the national strike committee involving nine unions at CN.
I am currently the Executive Director of the Realistic Success Recovery Society in Surrey, which operates the Trilogy Houses of Hope and Healing. The Society has received national awards for ethical business practices including awards from the CEP Humanities Fund; Home Depot Canada Foundation, Surrey Foundation and Toskan Casale Foundation.
I stand for logic, equality and compassion. I will work hard for you and your right to determine your neighbourhoods’ destiny. I am a proud member of SCC and believe a strong democracy is built on strong debate. I will bring that back to Surrey Council.
