Doug Elford Candidate for Surrey City Council |
|
As an environmental protection officer, I am uniquely qualified to bring about better planning and cooperation between council, developers, and citizens to protect parks and neighbourhoods. I understand the system and know which buttons to push to get things done.
I am a seventh generation Canadian and lifelong British Columbian. I grew up in Richmond and I have lived an active lifestyle in Newton for 25 years with my wife and four sons.
I have 33 years experience working in the municipal sector, currently as an Environmental Protection Officer.
My experience in the municipal sector has prepared me for a position on City Council. I feel that bylaws need to be addressed to better improve our Environment, public safety and our living conditions. I understand the system and know which buttons to push to get things done.
I will work hard to represent the best interests of working families in their individual neighbourhoods.
I have previous campaign experience running independently for Surrey City Council in 1999 where I received 9900 votes.
I am an advocate for sports and improved access for everyone to all parks and recreation facilities.
I serve on the City of Surrey Outdoor Sports Advisory Committee as a representative of baseball. I am a former President of Newton Canadian baseball and I am a director with the BC Minor Baseball Association.
I am a member of CUPE local 15 and serve on CUPE’s Provincial and National Environment Committees.
