Mayor tries to hide Surrey First support for incinerators: SCC claim

The Surrey Civic Coalition is claiming that Surrey First can’t be trusted not to bring incinerators to Surrey. With Joginder Randhawa officially withdrawing as a candidate to be the next mayor of Surrey, there are six candidates trying to take the mayor’s chair from Dianne Watts. Surrey school candidates face the public

The topics ranged from funding, overcrowding and advocacy, to technology, standardized testing and bullying as candidates for Surrey school trustee faced the public for a pre-election all-candidates meeting Wednesday evening. Watts’ opponents not buying council’s incinerator ignorance

Surrey Mayor Dianne Watts says the city will never have a waste incinerator under her watch, following public accusations that council considered a South Surrey waste-to-energy facility near 196th Street and 32nd Avenue. Surrey Council bans truck traffic on 32nd Avenue

32nd Avenue Alliance ‘elated’ with city motion

Concerned residents in South Surrey asked Surrey council to ban heavy truck traffic on 32nd Avenue, west of Highway 15, citing public health, public safety and noise concerns. At a council meeting on Oct. 17, Surrey council moved a motion to do so. A Surrey councillor is under fire for accepting the Order of B.C. nomination for former Premier Gordon Campbell. Surrey Coun. Barbara Steele is the president of the UBCM (Union of B.C.
