SCC opposed to smart meters, Robinson says
SCC Gary Robinson, News Releases 2
The Surrey Civic Coalition is opposed to smart meters, Council Candidate Gary T. Robinson announced today. The former City Councillor who is seeking election with SCC, said he “will introduce a by-law to prohibit installation of the so-called smart meters in Surrey,” if he is elected on Nov. 19. “They are intrusive, they are unsafe and everyone I talk to says they are not wanted,” Robinson said, adding California is now in the process of removing smart meters. Robinson noted the Union of BC Municipalities passed a moratorium on smart meters on Sept. 30. “The majority of elected people in

Re: “Casino Property ‘flipped’ says city” September 15, 2011 A speculator flipped land, promises were broken, and a 25 million dollar scheme failed. Surrey Council placed its bets and we lost. Stop gambling with our City. The public does know something. We know your blind faith with development – any development, all development –doesn’t work, The current City Council have become slaves to big money and big promises. The haphazard way Surrey Council dealt with this casino application forced far-too-many people to take sides in the Newton casino scheme. It pitted Not-for-Profit groups against the community and residents against Not-for-Profits

Citizens feel Surrey Council has lost touch
SCC Gary Robinson 0
The past week has been very interesting for me as a candidate for Surrey City Council. I have met with three groups of people who feel the current Council has lost touch and just isn’t listening. Residents in the Morgan Creek area are devastated that the City plans to run a freeway along 32 Avenue, right through the middle of their neighbourhood, only a few feet from their homes, day care centres, and playgrounds. Folks in Tynehead feel they’re being taken to the cleaners with promises from developers. They have lived there for years, and were treating their homes and

Huge green space set for paving screams the headline. A neighborhood concept plan that will bring 9,000 new people to – in Grandview Heights is 100 per cent opposed by the city’s own ecological management study. Surrey City Council is set to once again bulldoze a forest the size of Redwood Park. The environmental advisory committee asks to meet with Surrey Council and their own Council sloughs them off. The Mayor says it’s too early to hear from the ecological advisory committee. How can it ever be too early to hear from a committee given the task of protecting our

Surrey has changed a lot since the ’60s says Robinson
SCC Gary Robinson 1
Here’s a little history of my time in Surrey. My parents, Margaret and Tom, moved to Surrey from Vancouver in 1964. They believed Surrey was a friendly place and they could afford to live here. They bought a farm on 124 Street in the Newton area. Schools were not overcrowded there were no portables, the roads had little traffic. Since then, much has changed. Now, Surrey schools are overcrowded. Our children are spending as much time in portables as they are in the school itself. Now we all know Surrey needs to grow, the question is how, Will we continue

Veteran councillor is a rookie blogger
SCC Gary Robinson 0
Hello this is my first SCC blog. As many of you know I’m running for Surrey City Council with the Surrey Civic Coalition. My goal as a candidate for Surrey City Council and the goal of the Surrey Civic Coalition is to work together with the citizens of Surrey to make Surrey the best place it can be. There are priorities that need to be addressed, and there are voices that need to be heard. The state of our city right now is, in my opinion, not what it should be. Our mayor is all image. She is our own
